How Ridgeline Roofing Co. of San Antonio Was Born in San Antonio

We remember the exact afternoon. It was late summer, 1984, and we’d just finished patching a valley leak on a ranch house near Alamo Heights. The homeowner, a retired schoolteacher, met us in the driveway with a folder of receipts from two other companies who’d “fixed” the same spot. She’d paid for a full replacement she didn’t need, then a second repair that failed in the first rain. She wasn’t angry anymore, just tired. She asked us, “How do I know you’re any different?”

We didn’t have a good answer. Not then. We drove back across San Antonio that evening with her folder on the passenger seat, past the storm-chaser billboards and the temporary yard signs that would disappear before the paint dried. Somewhere along I-10, we made a promise: if we ever put our name on a truck in this city, it would mean something permanent. No scare tactics. No invoices that ballooned after the handshake. A real address, a real warranty, and a crew that would still be here when the next storm hit. That promise became Ridgeline Roofing Co. of San Antonio.

Our Founder’s Personal Connection to the Roofing Trade

We came to roofing the way a lot of people in San Antonio come to their work, through family necessity and stubborn curiosity. Our people weren’t roofers. They were mechanics, cooks, people who fixed what broke because calling someone cost money we didn’t have. The first time we climbed a ladder, it was to stop a leak that was staining the ceiling of the house where we grew up, over near Leon Valley. The tar smelled like hot asphalt and regret. The sun on the shingles was brutal. We were sixteen, maybe seventeen, and we stayed up there until dark because we couldn’t afford to get it wrong.

Something stuck. The physical logic of it, how water always finds the path of least resistance, how a roof is really just geometry holding back weather. We started helping a tradesman who trained us in exchange for carrying shingles up the ladder. He was old-school, impatient with shortcuts. Taught us to feel for soft spots with our boots, to read the grain of the wood underneath, to know the difference between a valley that would last and one that would leak in five years. That was 42 years ago. We’ve slept fine through a thousand storms since then, knowing what we left behind.

If we weren’t doing this, we’d probably be building something else with our hands. Cabinets, maybe, or restoring old trucks. The satisfaction is the same: standing back and seeing a thing done right. What gets us out of bed now isn’t the work itself, it’s the homeowners. The ones who’ve been in their house thirty years and want to stay thirty more. The ones who’ve been burned and need to trust again. We’re not sentimental about it. But we’re serious.

Meet Our Team - The Person Behind Every Job

We’re the owner and founder of Ridgeline Roofing Co. of San Antonio. We’ve spent 42 years on roofs in this city, from the clay tile in Terrell Hills to the wind-rated shingles out in Helotes. Our training started on the job, carrying bundles up ladders in July, and it never really stopped. We’ve worked with GAF and CertainTeed materials long enough to know which lines hold up to our hail season and which don’t.

What sets us apart from a corporate technician isn’t a credential. It’s that we still walk every job before we quote it, still carry a camera onto the roof to show you what we’re seeing, and still answer the phone when our past customers call with a question. Off the clock, you’ll find us at the grill or in the garage, restoring a 1972 Chevy pickup that’s been in progress longer than some of our apprentices have been alive. We believe in finishing what you start. That’s not a marketing line. It’s why we built this company.

Our personal commitment to you: when we shake your hand, we’re the ones who come back if something’s not right. No paperwork, no arguing.

Our Promise to San Antonio Homeowners

Our values aren’t framed on a wall. We live by the K.E.Y.S. code, and we apply it to every roof we touch in San Antonio.

Krafted right. We use trained journeymen, not day laborers, and we specify materials we know will survive our climate. A roof in Kirby faces different wind exposure than one in Windcrest. We don’t guess.

Every time. The 400th job gets the same attention as the first. Early on, we made a rule: no crew moves to the next house until the current one is photographed, inspected, and signed off. We still do that.

Your home first. We work in your house the way we’d work in our mother’s. That means tarps on the landscaping, magnets in the grass for stray nails, and crews who don’t blast music you didn’t ask for.

Standing behind it. The Keystone Standard, applied to roofing: 90 days, in writing, no arguing. If it’s not right, we come back. We’ve honored that promise since 1984 because our name is on the truck, and we plan to be here when that truck needs replacing.

Our Credentials

Every pro working under our name is required to hold the license and insurance their state requires. We’re state-licensed, insured, and bonded. We’ve been serving San Antonio for 42 years, since 1984. We’ve built a strong local reputation the slow way: showing up, doing what we said, and still being here when the phone rings years later.

Here’s why each of these matters when you’re letting someone work on your home:

  • State-licensed: It means we’ve met Texas requirements for competency and accountability, and you have recourse if something goes wrong.
  • Insured & bonded: If a worker is injured on your property or damage occurs during the job, you’re not paying for it out of your homeowner’s policy.
  • 42 years in business: We’ve weathered economic downturns, material shortages, and every hail season since 1984. We’ll be here to honor your warranty.
  • Strong local reputation: In a city this size, word gets around. We don’t buy our reputation; we earn it one roof at a time.

Rooted in San Antonio

We’ve driven every neighborhood in our service area at every hour, from the early morning commute down Fredericksburg Road to the evening traffic easing past Lackland Air Force Base. We know which side of a roof in Alamo Heights bakes the hardest in August, and we’ve replaced shingles in Converse after the spring storms that always seem to track northeast. Our crews live here. They shop at the same H-E-Bs, wait at the same lights on Loop 410, and understand that a roof in Live Oak isn’t just a job, it’s somebody’s place in the world. We plan to be in San Antonio in thirty years. We act like it.
