Alamo Heights Tile Roof: Cracked Boral Clay After the ’23 Hail Season
Alamo Heights sits high enough to catch every storm rolling off the Edwards Plateau, and those 2023 hailstones didn’t spare the clay. This homeowner had six cracked tiles in the field and displaced pieces along the ridge that were letting water run straight to the decking. We matched the existing Boral profile, swapped the damaged tiles, and replaced the valley flashing with copper that’ll outlast the next three owners. Done right, and if it’s not, we make it right.
Terrell Hills Composite Shingle: Owens Corning Duration After Wind Uplift
Terrell Hills gets those straight-line winds that come up from the southeast and peel shingles back like a tin can lid. This roof had Owens Corning Duration shingles that were installed without proper starter strip adhesion - a shortcut that showed itself three years in. We stripped the damaged rake sections, installed OC’s high-wind starter strips to manufacturer spec, and finished with Duration in Driftwood to blend the repair. The homeowner’s exact words: “You can’t tell where the old stops and the new starts.” That’s the point.
Stone Oak GAF Timberline: Full Replacement on a 22-Year-Old Three-Tab
Stone Oak builds went up fast in the early 2000s, and a lot of those original roofs were three-tab shingles that weren’t designed to handle San Antonio’s UV load for two decades. This one was shedding granules into the gutters, the fiberglass mat was showing through in patches, and the homeowner had two active leaks during last September’s back-to-back storms. We stripped to deck, replaced three sheets of compromised OSB, and installed GAF Timberline HDZ in Barkwood with the Golden Pledge warranty. A square deal: the price we quoted was the price they paid, and we finished in four days.
Helotes Metal Roof: Standing Seam Repair After Improper Valley Installation
Helotes sits on the edge of the Hill Country, and that limestone runoff is hard on everything it touches. This standing seam job was done by a crew that didn’t understand how to handle the valley-to-chimney intersection - they spliced the panels instead of running continuous, and water was getting behind the chimney brick. We pulled the affected panels, built a proper cricket to divert flow, and ran new Galvalume standing seam with the correct diverter detail. Metal roofing in San Antonio isn’t forgiving of shortcuts. We documented every step with photos from the roof, not the driveway.
Shavano Park Emergency Tarp-to-Repair: CertainTeed Landmark After June Storm Damage
Shavano Park took a direct hit from that June storm system that spun up faster than the forecasts predicted. This homeowner called at 9:30 on a Saturday night - live person answered, because that’s how we do it - and we had a crew out with tarps by midnight. The wind had torn a 12-foot section of CertainTeed Landmark clean off, exposing the felt to three more hours of rain before we got there. We came back Monday, stripped to deck, upgraded to synthetic underlayment, and finished with Landmark in Georgetown Gray. Most of the job done in a single visit. Live Oak Gutter and Roof Edge: Atlas StormMaster Slate with Integrated Gutter Replacement
Live Oak’s mature oak canopy is beautiful until those branches start scraping and the gutters clog with acorns every October. This homeowner’s galvanized gutters had pulled away from rotted fascia, and the water running behind them was eating into the roof edge. We replaced the compromised fascia, installed Atlas StormMaster Slate shingles at the eave to match the existing field, and hung seamless aluminum gutters with hidden hangers that won’t clog or sag.
